Statistics After Retirement- Jay Devore

Jay Devore finished teaching his last classes at Cal Poly in March 2011, but he has not divorced himself from statistical activities. The second edition of "Modern Mathematical Statistics with Applications," coauthored with Ken Berk, was published in January by Springer. His first book, "Probability and Statistics for Engineering and the Sciences," is now in its eighth edition, and the publisher is already making plans for a new edition.

For the fourth year in a row, Devore will teach a summer session course at Columbia University in New York City, where both his daughters and two grandsons live. He and his wife, Carol, took an interesting tour of China last fall and plan to travel to parts of Europe and the Middle East in September to celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary.
